TO KNOW CHRIST AND TO MAKE HIM KNOWN

OUR PURPOSE

At First Baptist Church of Zeeland, we believe that God's Word clearly states that we are to Honor God through Worshipping Him, Equipping believers and Evangelizing unbelievers.

These truths are captured in our simple Purpose Statement:

“We exist to know Christ and to make Him known.”

We endeavor to align all of our ministries and efforts to this single

Purpose Statement. Here is what this statement means to us:

“We” are the congregation of FBC Zeeland, a body of believers

in Jesus Christ united in Christ by the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 12:13

We “exist” for a purpose. We are God’s people, placed here in

Zeeland, Michigan to allow Him to accomplish His purpose through us.

1 Corinthians 8:6

“to know” means to be in intimate, personal relationship with Jesus. It is not just knowing about Him, but living in relationship with Him. When we know God as He truly is, we desire to worship Him, obey his teachings out of love, and by faith walk in the good works that He has created for us. This is a life-long journey that

continues until we are with Him in heaven.

Ephesians 2:10, 1 John 2:1-6; Colossians 1:9-14

“Christ” refers to the Son of God Who became a man by being born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, suffered and died a horrible death on a cross, bearing our sin and shame, became alive again, ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of God, and now intercedes for us, offers His new life to us, and will come again so we can join

Him as He reigns perfectly forever.

John 8:58, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Hebrews 1:1-3, 2 Timothy 4:1

“to make Him known” means to lovingly proclaim His truth through our words and actions so that

those around us will want to, by faith, have an intimate, personal relationship with Him.

Matthew 28:18-20, 2 Corinthians 5:21
